A Study In Greensleeves <> Wayne's exploration of Greensleeves, a collection of various arrangements, all arranged and adapted by Wayne Krewski. Roelof Helberg joins me on What Child Is This with lyric in Afrikaans and guitar.
<> Legend has it that Greensleeves was written by Henry VIII for Ann Boleyn when they were courting. The first known published version was in 1580, and critics say that the Italian style it was written in hadn't reached England at the time of Henry's death in 1547. In any case, the story of the song is a good match for Henry and Ann's story, and Henry was an accomplished poet and song writer, and his court was renowned for it's music. The "What Child Is This" lyric was written by William Chatterton Dix in the 1800s.
Greensleeves <> Wayne's arrangement for one guitar in 3/4 time and two guitars in 4/4 time <> 3/4 flatpicking, 4/4 flatpicking, and 4/4 fingerstyle guitars by Wayne Krewski <> melody and harmony vocals, 4/4 piano score by Wayne Krewski <> Choir by Nanuk <> Lyrics as first published in 1580

I adapted it for Greensleeves as well for both 3/4 time and 4/4 time ! <> 4/4 piano score and recorder score by Wayne Krewski <> Pipe organ by Jack McDonald, recorded in 1964 on the pipe organ he built <> Choir by Nanuk
